Resort Changes Name From Silver Creek to SolVista

Silver Creek Golf and Ski Ranch is changing its name to SolVista Golf and Ski Ranch. The new name establishes a clear and exclusive market identity for the ranch, representing the high quality, all season resort and real estate services and offerings provided only by SolVista.

The new name is needed for a number of reasons. SolVista Resort is now beginning to show the fruits of a massive $100 million improvement program that includes an 18-hole championship golf course, new high-speed, quad lifts, mountain lighting for nighttime skiing, the SolVista Marina at Grand Lake, the addition of 1,200 new acres of advanced and expert ski runs through the purchase of Berthoud Pass Ski Area, and a nearly sold out new, 115-unit mountain home community.

SolVista’s increasing recognition in the market place has attracted a number of parties not affiliated with the ranch who are utilizing the previous "Silver Creek" name, thereby necessitating two lawsuits to maintain the ranch’s exclusive identity. The ranch believes it will prevail in the courts, but may still not gain the complete and exclusive identity necessary in today’s market place. Rather than continue the costs and resources to prosecute the lawsuits, Silver Creek has elected to dismiss both lawsuits and change its name to SolVista.

SolVista joins the Latin word, Sol, which means sun, sunlight, sunshine and day, with Vista, meaning an expansive, far reaching view. Together, SolVista better expresses the openness of the valley and its distinct mountain views. The new identity signals the emerging improvements to this 5,500 acre ranch and ushers in the bright future of this family-oriented, four season Colorado mountain community. SolVista helps to distinguish the ranch from other Colorado ski areas by describing some of its more distinctive characteristics. SolVista evokes a compelling image that is found on site as opposed to there not being any actual Silver Creek, as only the Fraser River runs through the resort. The SolVista name suggests a warm, family-friendly feeling.
