BERTHOUD PASS SKI AREA

Background

SAVORING THE

PURE

ADVENTURE

Since opening in 1937, Berthoud Pass ski area has long held a reputation for premiere backcountry skiing and snowboarding. The ski area offers an experience that is comparable to snowcat and helicopter skiing.

Half of the ski area is designated as advanced or expert. More than 65 trails on 1,200 acres of terrain are offered to only 400 daily-ticket skiers and snowboarders a day, which leaves nearly three acres of pristine powder to each visitor.

Berthoud Pass’ backcountry is accessible from all lifts. Skiers and riders can get comfortable after getting vertical – a backcountry shuttle service picks up skiers and riders at four points and takes them back to the lifts.

TRICKS OF

THE TERRAIN

Berthoud Pass has a Powder Guide service, which offers an insider’s view of Berthoud’s backcountry, and provides helpful hints on technique and terrain. The guides have more than 25 years of combined backcountry guiding and avalanche experience.

Avalanches are a reality in the backcountry. Thus, the Powder Guides offer different levels of avalanche awareness classes to skiers, riders, snowshoers, winter climbers and the general public.
